James Edward "Jimmy" Baker (5 May 1904 – 1979[1]), sometimes also referred to as Jack,[2] was a Welsh-born footballer who played as a wing half in the 1920s and 1930s.[1]
Baker played for non-league Lovells Athletic F.C., before signing for Second Division side Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1926.[2] He made his Football League debut on 30 April 1927 in a 2-1 win over Fulham.
He remained at Molineux for three seasons but only managed 17 appearances in total during this period,[2] 16 of which were in the League.[1] He joined Coventry City in 1929,[2] where he would go on to have two spells, interspersed by a return to Lovells Athletic.[1]
He moved to Bristol City in January 1935, where he remained for a season-and-a-half before signing for Colchester United. He remained with the U's until retiring from playing in 1941.
